Vintage Vietnam War era Chieu Hoi "Surrender" Bags
( Click on the thumbnail above to enlarge photo)
A lot of people have asked about the bags that I ship the P-38s or P-51s in and they are called Chieu Hoi "Surrender" Bags.
They are vintage vintage Vietnam War era US GI Issue made to water proof a standard M16 20 round magazine but have a psychological warfare message written in Vietnamese on them. They would be dropped along the trail for Charlie to find and read. I've seen these same bags selling on eBay for $1 to $2 a bag.
The text on it reads:
"Returning Chieu Hoi will help you again see your parents and family in a peaceful and democratic Vietnam."
Here's a link to a great website that describes the "Chieu Hoi" program in Vietnam: http://www.psywarrior.com/ChieuHoiProgram.html
